John W. Pruitt, III was born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Upon graduating from The Westminster Schools in Atlanta, John went on to attend and graduate from The U. S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT as an Electrical Engineer. Upon graduation John was commissioned as an officer in the U. S. Coast Guard.
During his career in the Coast Guard, John deployed for over 12 years around the world working with every branch of the U. S. military and numerous nations. During this time John commanded three Coast Guard ships and was Officer in Charge of a law enforcement detachment. John’s operations carried him from the Bering Sea of Alaska, throughout Central and South America, the Persian Gulf, and untold places in between.
John retired from the U. S. Coast Guard after 23 years of service, as a Captain (O-6) in 2018 and is an entertainment consultant and TV personality.
Within the entertainment industry John has worked as the Director of the U. S. Coast Guard’s Motion Picture and Television Office, in Los Angeles, California, and worked to tell the story of the U. S. Coast Guard by partnering with productions around the world in various projects from reality, documentary, and scripted TV to cinema.
John has worked in various roles on a variety of entertainment projects including scripted and reality TV, documentaries, and cinema for companies including 20th Century Fox, Film Nation, Playtone, and Back Roads Entertainment among many others.
John lives in Los Angeles where he can often be seen riding his bicycle en route his next meeting.
