Holstein 100

Last Saturday I rode one of the hardest bike rides I have ever been on. The Holstein 100! It started in Tomales, CA and ran down to Petaluma, up Tomales Bay, in to Bodega Bay, and then back down to Tomales.

The ride was also a memorial ride for the recently crashed CG-6017. 3 Coasties were killed in this accident. “We have to go out, but we don’t have to come back!” Thank you to all of my Coast Guard Brother’s and Sisters for your sacrifice!

It truly tested me on so many levels. 5 hours and 11 minutes in the saddle! Nearly 5000 feet of climbing. You know what though, I would do it all over again in a minute!

Next time out, I’ve got to do it faster!

Riding with Team CSC!

Ok, so I’m no major fan groupie, but these guys are phenominal.  Cycling Team CSC!  A true powerhouse of the professional cycling world.  For 8 of us lucky guys and girls in the DC area, we were able to spend a day riding with CSC, the day before their race – their training ride.  And as their coach, famous Tour de France rider Lars Michaelson said – “don’t break the team please, they have to race tomorrow” – sure, right…
